As many kick off the New Year by making resolutions, Marley Park has an exciting opportunity for the community to get their gears going. Whether you resolve to get fit or check an item off that “bucket list” in 2015, get ready to achieve your goals by participating in the 7th Annual IMS Arizona Marathon, Half Marathon, 10k, 5k, or 1 mile events on Sunday, February 15.
Marley Park, proud sponsors of the IMS Marathon, will host the starting line for the Half Marathon at the Marley Park Heritage Club. Runners will enjoy a 13.1 mile tour through Surprise and Glendale including a jaunt through Luke Air Force Base before finishing at Westgate. Marley Park residents have the luxury of walking to the start line this year. The Heritage Club will open its doors to allow participants a warm and inviting staging area starting at 5:30 AM.
If you aren’t planning to run that day, get out and show your Marley Park spirit by lining Sweetwater Avenue with cheers of support!
The event Title Sponsor, IMS – Integrated Medical Services, is a Valley-wide multi-specialty physician group that has provided exceptional patient centered, comprehensive care serving the community since 2006. The marathon has raised over $135,000 to date, which is given back to the community to support organizations such as: Leukemia Lymphoma Society of Arizona, Boy’s and Girl’s Clubs, Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Local School Districts and High School Scholarships.
Whether you are an avid runner or just getting your sneakers wet, check out local training group, Surprise Running Club. SRC offers a FREE private non-competitive running club to the Surprise community. The club conveniently meets at Heritage Park (just South of Marley Park Elementary School) at the blue gazebo on Mondays, 6:15 – 7:30 PM, rain or shine.
Lace up those running shoes and join neighbors in starting off 2015 with a bang! Find all of the details at www.thearizonamarathon.com. Don’t delay the last day to register on-line is February 14.
