Marley Park Announces 2013 Parade Grand Marshals
Marley Park is proud to announce the grand marshals for the 2013 Star-Spangled Celebration Community Parade. Congratulations to Jen McSweeney, Richard Perry, Frank Dias, Charlotte Confer and Dana Rowitz.
As a special tradition, Marley Park recognizes those awarded at the Annual Volunteer Celebration as the Grand Marshals of the Star-Spangled Celebration. These individuals continually give back to their community, and have been acknowledged for their actions.
Jen McSweeney was honored as Marley Park’s 2013 Volunteer of the Year (Adult). She has participated in a variety of projects including Marley Park Leadership, Community Cares and Equinox. “Jen is a great leader, neighbor and friend who is always stepping up to help in any way she can!”
Richard Perry was recognized as Marley Park’s 2013 Volunteer of the Year (Greater Community). Richard is involved in Marley Park Leadership, the Veteran’s Commemorative Plaza Community Project, Marley Park Elementary School PTA, Arizona State Parent Teacher Association, the City of Surprise Quality of Life Commission, and that’s not all. “Richard is involved in many different committees and is always ready with ideas and to lend support.”
Frank Dias was named Marley Park’s 2013 Volunteer of the Year (Behind the Scenes). He serves the community through Rotary, the Surprise Regional Chamber of Commerce, Marley Park Leadership, and most notably as leader of Marley Park’s Neighborhood Watch.
Charlotte Confer leads many events that have become Marley Park traditions, including the community’s annual Easter Egg Hunt, Homestead Harvest Festival Pumpkin Carving, and Home for the Holidays Gingerbread House Decorating & Cookie Exchange. Charlotte was honored as Marley Park’s 2013 Volunteer of the Year (Behind the Scenes).
Dana Rowitz, 13, was honored as Marley Park’s 2013 Volunteer of the Year (Youth). An honor roll student and cheerleader, Dana serves as VP of the Marley Park Elementary School Council. She also volunteers for Homeward Bound and our Veterans Commemorative Plaza project. She also used her babysitting earnings to provide Christmas gifts for 12 group home children attending MPES. “Dana has a wonderful sense of community and goes out of her way to help others.”
