‘Zen out’ this weekend at the Heritage Club Backyard
Neighbors are invited to practice their “tree pose” during a yoga session in the park on Saturday, April 5. Come What May Yoga is hosting “Yoga for a Cause — Reach Out and Give Back” at the Heritage Club Backyard from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event is in support of the Veterans Commemorative Plaza that is being built adjacent to the Heritage Pool House in Marley Park to honor all veterans who have served, or continue to serve, in the five branches of the Armed Forces.
The 75-minute yoga session will be led by Jennifer Lynch, a certified yoga teacher and facilitator from Come What May Yoga in Surprise. The class is open to all levels and ages, and is a great opportunity for first-time yoga enthusiasts. Participants will need to bring their own mats.
During the morning event, participants are invited to visit with health and wellness vendors, enjoy snow cones, and groove to tunes by Artist DJ Traviste. A minimum $5 donation is requested to participate in the yoga session. Raffle tickets for prizes donated by event vendors will also be available for purchase.
All proceeds from the event will be given to Friends of the Veterans Commemorative Plaza to supplement construction capital for the site, which is scheduled for dedication later this fall. The memorial design includes “Circle of Honor” pavers inscribed with veterans’ names placed around a flagpole, along with benches set around the edge of the Plaza.
