West Valley highways expected to spark major growth to region
With completion of two major thoroughfares expected within the next year, growth in the West Valley is projected to boom as development opportunities along Loop 303 and Northern Parkway begin to emerge. Loop 303 will connect I-17 and I-15. Northern Parkway is a 12.5-mile stretch of freeway that will connect Loop 303 and U.S. 60.
According to the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, about 52 percent of the Phoenix area’s growth in the coming years will occur in the West Valley.
WESTMARC, a public-private economic coalition, hosted its annual summit on April 17 where a panel of experts discussed the importance of these two highways. All agreed that the area is poised to see significant commercial and residential development.
The West Valley, which is comprised of 15 greater-Phoenix communities, is already home to major employers such as Banner Health, Luke Air Force Base, American Express, Amazon, and Grand Canyon University. The timing of this growth follows right in line, too, with development of new homes in the Marley Park community.
