Marley Park Constructs Veterans Commemorative Plaza

Marley Park Commemorative Plaza

A new memorial is in the works at Marley Park to honor residents, friends and family of residents who have or who are serving in the armed forces.

The Veteran Commemorative Plaza was developed by the Community Project Committee from the Marley Park Leadership Program. The “small town” America feel design includes a 30-foot flagpole with a pentagonal base displaying the five branches of service. The Circle of Honor will display the names of the veterans and will be placed around the flagpole. The pavers will be red, base will be white to stand out against the blue sky representing patriotism. Benches will also surround the flagpole to all residents to enjoy the structure.

Pavers with the names of veterans can be purchased for $75, and businesses and organizations can purchase pathway pavers for $200. Other sponsorship opportunities are available here (Link to PDF).

The Veteran Commemorative Plaza will be located on the southeast corner of Founders Park Boulevard and Pershing Street, which is adjacent to the Pool House. Dedication is scheduled for November.
