Three ways to stay active this summer in Marley Park
While it’s tempting to hibernate at home once the mercury rises over 100 degrees, your friends at the Heritage Club and Pool challenge you to stay active with these summer programs for the entire family.
Mat Pilates — If you’ve never tried mat Pilates, here’s your chance. Beginning Saturday, June 7, you can take a weekly 45-minute class from 8:15 to 9 a.m. at the Heritage Pool House. Did you know that after 10 classes, you’ll notice significant improvement in breathing and circulation, muscles strength, and flexibility? Lucky for you, the program runs through the Aug. 23, which means you can get in 12 classes before Labor Day. Remember to bring your own fitness mat. Classes are $12 for Marley Park residents and $15 for guests from the greater community. For more information, contact LaBriece Oshsner at 623.328.7071 or pilatesbylabriece@cox.net.
Yoga — Come What May Yoga is offering twice weekly yoga classes from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Heritage Club on Mondays and Tuesdays. Monday classes are open to all levels, while Tuesday classes are designed for those new to their practice. Classes are $10 and no reservations are required. Arrive five to 10 minutes early and bring a yoga mat. You may also want to consider bringing along yoga props like a block or band to help enhance your practice.
Swim Lessons — While swimming is great exercise, the most important benefit of swim lessons is to teach children water safety. Seventy two water related accidents have already occurred in Arizona this year. Summer is the perfect time to enroll your child in Aqua Tots swim lessons. Lessons are offered five days a week at the Heritage Pool. Click here for class days and times. To register, contact Aqua Tots at 623.376.6554. By the way, Marley Park residents receive a 10-percent discount on lessons. Just mention that you are a Marley Park resident when registering.
