Project Hand-Up: Making Blankets, Warming Hearts

by Betsy Kirschner, Arbor

Marley Park residents and guests worked together to create 20 colorful, no-sew, fleece blankets for charity on November 10, 2012.

Neighbors and friends met at the Heritage Club House for our first “Blanket Making Project.” Organized by resident Angela Kirschner (Arbor), adults and children worked together to make 20 colorful, no-sew, fleece blankets for Homeward Bound, a Phoenix area charity. Several girls from the Willow Canyon HS Cheer Squad attended and worked alongside residents on our colorful creations.

Homeward Bound provides transitional housing and comprehensive social services to families with children fleeing domestic violence and/or homelessness. The organization will also be our charity focus at the upcoming Home for the Holidays event on December 8.
