Surprise Arizona Housing Development, Marley Park, Honored with Westmarc Award
Marley Park community recognized for Architectural Innovation
SURPRISE, AZ (October 26, 2007) - The Western Maricopa Coalition (WESTMARC) honored Marley Park with a Best of the West "Architectural Innovation" award for its classically designed community in Surprise. The Best of the West Awards, which recognize contributions to the image, lifestyle and economic development of Western Maricopa County, were awarded during the 15th annual awards dinner held yesterday evening at the Renaissance Glendale Hotel.
"In developing Marley Park, we planned a community that would complement greater Surprise and enhance the architectural character of the northwest Valley," said Dan Kelly, Marley Park general manager. "We are honored to receive this award, which recognizes Marley Park's contributions, thus far, to the greater community."
The Surprise, Arizona home community of Marley Park is an in-fill development that pays tribute to the area's agricultural roots by emphasizing open spaces, shade trees and traditional architecture. Neighborhood streets feature unique home styles from multiple builders, giving residents a sense of individualism. A walk through Marley Park reveals the architectural character of a bygone era: Bungalow, Cottage, Craftsman, Monterey, Spanish, Territorial Ranch and Traditional-style homes line the streets. These diverse homes built close to uniquely themed parks create distinct neighborhoods, linked within the greater community by the pedestrian-friendly Arbor Walk. The northwest Phoenix home community's character and charm make it unlike any other community in the northwest Valley.
In addition to the WESTMARC award, Marley Park recently received recognition for its parks and Arbor Walk in the "Open Space and Connectivity" category at the Valley Forward 27th Annual Environmental Excellence Awards held last month at the Westin Kierland Resort in Scottsdale. "We designed our Arbor Walk to link our fifteen neighborhood parks and encourage resident interaction," said Dan Kelly, Marley Park general manager. "The Valley Forward Awards specifically recognize contributions to the physical environment of Valley communities, and we are pleased to be acknowledged in the Open Space and Connectivity category."
